Exclusive: Doctor Doom's Unused Castle in FANTASTIC FOUR: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER Storyboards by Darrin Denlinger

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007) storyboards by Darrin Denlinger
Check out Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer storyboards by Darrin Denlinger!

The 2007 sequel to Fantastic Four got mixed reviews but, in it's opening weekend, was the highest-grossing movie at the U.S. box office. In the end, it grossed $289 million worldwide, but was considered a flop. Recently I contacted Darrin Denlinger who was one of the artists that worked on the film and he sent me some exclusive storyboards that show a very different take on the film. Because of the number of boards he sent me I'm releasing them in two parts over the next two days.

Update: See the next set here!

Darrin Denlinger is a professional storyboard artist who's worked on blockbuster movies like The Avengers (2012), Iron Man 3 (2013), and Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)

Doctor Doom's Castle in Latveria
"In early development, Dr. Doom's castle in Latveria was a big presence in the film. while producing stuff for the studio presentation, I did series of illustrations detailing the Fantastic Four's escape from the castle and Victor Von Doom's army of 'Doombots'" - Darrin Denlinger

Fantasti-Car Air Battle
"The FantastiCar designed by Tim Flattery was my absolute favorite piece of eye candy from the project.  These illustrations show it in action as the team head toward their final showdown with Dr. Doom. I think it was such a missed opportunity that this vehicle was never really exploited in the merchandising of the film." - Darrin Denlinger

Fantastic Four to the Rescue
"Before the script was done, we explored several types of rescue operations that could show the team in action.  Most didn't get past the 'wouldn't it be cool if…' stage.  I particularly love the underwater rescue with Ben Grimm in THING-sized scuba gear." - Darrin Denlinger
