Guardians of the Galaxy had a huge opening and is currently the highest grossing domestic film of 2014. This is big considering that the year has been a slow one. "This movie just couldn't have come at a better time," said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for box-office tracker Rentrak. "When we were really down and out in the summer box office — at one point down 20 percent from last year — 'Guardians' came along and injected life. What is surprising is that it was a film launched in August." It's ironic that the strangest, biggest gamble of the year turned out to be the biggest one. The film was supported by a dream team of artists and one of them was Anthony Francisco. He shared some illustrations on his Facebook page using his unique and colorful painting style.

Francisco is a professional concept artist who's worked on blockbuster films such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014), G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013) and Spider-Man (2002). He shared some unused designs for Groot, The Collector, Korath and more.

"Here are some concepts from Guardians of the Galaxy, the first movie I was placed on when I started work a year and a half ago at Marvel Studios. I am so happy it is doing so well. When people would ask me what I was working on they would always not know what I was talking about. But Marvel and James Gunn did an awesome job spreading awareness of the relatively unknown property. I feel so lucky getting to work on the project with Marvel Visual Development team. The baby groot creature design was one of my favorites to work on and I am glad that people enjoyed the movie as much as I had fun working on it." - Anthony Francisco
